Offshore Grade Steel Plate
As an offshore grade steel plate supplier, North Shore Steel supplies enhanced strength plate used for offshore and related marine construction equipment and projects. Our company provides ABS and API steel products that meet your requirements.
- API-2H GR 50 with Supplements 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
- ABS DH36, ABS EH36, A633
Grades Available:
Heat-treated carbon-manganese steel plate, primarily used for offshore platform tubular joints, stiffened plate construction, and welded construction of offshore structures. Produced in normalized condition in grades 42 and 50 (up to 4”). Weldability is critical and plates are supplied under this spec with a max carbon equivalence (CE) of 0.43-0.45 depending on thickness. Tensile range is 62-82 KSI for grade 42 and 70-90 KSI for grade 50. Yield minimums are 42 KSI and 50 KSI for the corresponding grade. Plates are commonly ordered with Charpy Impacts at -40° F.
Our API-2H GR 50 plate is stocked with the following supplements:
- S1 – Ultrasonic Examination per A578 Level C.
- S3 – Individual Plate Testing for Mechanical Properties.
- S4 – Through-Thickness (Z-Direction) Testing
- S5 – Low Sulfur for Improved Through-Thickness Properties
- S8 – Strain-Aged Charpy V-Notch Impact Testing
A thermo-mechanically control processed (TMCP) structural steel plate spec for the offshore industry, primarily used in shipbuilding, offshore platforms, jack-up rigs, and offshore wind parks. This spec offers a high degree of toughness and excellent weldability.
Produced vacuum degassed, fine grain, and fully killed with theromechanical rolling and accelerated cooling in grades 50 (up to 6”) and 60 (up to 4”). Weldability is critical and plates are supplied under this spec with a max carbon equivalence (CE) of 0.39-0.45 depending on grade and thickness. Tensile minimum is 65 KSI for grade 52 and 75 KSI for grade 60. Yield minimums are 50 KSI and 60 KSI for the corresponding grade. Plates are commonly ordered with Charpy Impacts at -40° F.
Our API-2W GR 60 is stocked with the following supplements:
- S1 – Ultrasonic Examination per A578 Level C.
- S3 – Individual Plate Testing for Mechanical Properties.
- S4 – Through-Thickness (Z-Direction) Testing
- S5 – Low Sulfur for Improved Through-Thickness Properties
- S7 – Low Nitrogen for Improved Notch Toughness in Strain-Aged Condition
- S8 – Strain-Aged Charpy V-Notch Impact Testing
- S11 – Preproduction Qualification Per API RP 2Z with Crack Tip Opening Displacement (CTOD)
High-strength carbon steel plate, primarily used for shipbuilding and other marine equipment. Normally included ABS certification. Produced in as-rolled and normalized conditions up to 6”. We stock A131M/EH36 up to 6” thick.
High-strength low-alloy structural steel, primarily used in construction applications at low ambient temperature of -50°F (-45°C) and higher where improved notch toughness is required. Produced in the normalized condition in grade A (min yield 42 KSI up to 4” thick), grades C & D (min yield 50 KSI up to 2.5” thick), and grade E (min yield 60 KSI up to 4” thick and min yield 55 KSI over 4” and up to 6” thick). Material is typically supplied with S5 – Charpy V-Notch Impact Testing, among other things.
